A Year in Review – 2016

2016 was a year of challenges and finding our inner strength to grow and develop, not only aspeople, but as passionate business owners.  After a year of introspection, we have a clear path of where we are going after reviewing where we have been and where our passions lie.

Martell has been in Cape Town for over a year now, and we are so pleased to report that apart from missing having her in the office, it has not impacted our business or service to clients in a negative way thanks to advanced technology, and the transition has been relatively seamless.

As most of you will know, Lucy had a benign brain tumor removed in April 2016.  After a successful 9hr operation, 10 days in hospital and 4 months at home, she is finally well on her way to recovery.  Martell not only held the fort in Lucy’s absence, but she secured new business and managed to drive the business forward in a tough economic climate. Thank you all for your support, patience and understanding during this very difficult time.

We are so thrilled to be working on safari projects again.  Having been focused on island projects over the last few years, we have yearned to return to the bush.  Our love of Africa and everything African is best expressed when working on game lodges and camps.  We completed a soft refurbishment of a tented camp in the Okavango Delta, Xobega Island Camp,

and just returned from a soft refurbishment at Africa on Foot and nThambo Tree Camp in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve.

Also, Karen Stanek has moved into out JHB office.  Lucy worked with Karen at the Silk and Cotton Company 19 years ago, and has maintained a friendship since then.  Karen has already brought three projects to the party, and we love working together.  From Jacksons Real Food Market in Bryanston to Eventides in Bantry Bay, and finally two penthouse apartments in Lagos Nigeria.  This will be our fist project on the West Coast of Africa and we are very enthusiastic.

Thanks you again for your continued support, and we look forward to working together in 2017, which promises to be a very exciting year.

Cheers

Lucy & Martell
