Pafuri Camp
Kruger National Park, South Africa
2015
52 bed – Tented Camp
Inspiration – Local History & the Makuleke Tribe
We were tasked with a partial rebuild and partial renovation of the well-known camp by the same name that got washed away in the 2013 floods. The objective was to capture the essence of the region in the interiors by bringing in reference to the abundant bird population (450 species to be exact) in the area and the extraordinary presence of the Baobab and Fever trees.
We made a feature of the pool bar by using up-cycled materials such as corrugated sheeting and bright colours to give a ‘shebeen’ flavour to the space.
